Carowinds choir
Last Saturday, the choir class and other Westwood students who signed up performed at Carowinds. The whole thing lasted from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and afterward, they had fun. We got to talk to the choir teacher and some students about what they think of the Carowinds performance.
Ashlee Poole, known as Ms. Poole, is the choir teacher. She was interviewed about what they did leading up to the performance. Initially, Ms. Poole was going to do a different performance in March, but “the times didn’t work out,” Ms. Poole said. When she found the Carowinds opportunity, where professionals could judge them. She was glad because her class had a chance to perform and to have fun afterward. They practiced every day and only had one combined rehearsal after school. Ms.Poole made sure they sounded their best during practice, fixing what needed to be fixed and making sure they sang in sync.
They performed two songs at the Aeronautical Theater that were all a cappella. They were practicing so much and so thoroughly. They stopped next to a rollercoaster before they had to go to their teacher. The park Patron looked at them and stopped in awe. They earned superior, which was the highest rating in the competition, which means all the hard work paid off, Westwood couldn’t be more proud.
Students were asked about the choir and what they think about them performing at Carowinds.
Genesis, a student at Westwood, said.“I think it’s cool that the choir class had the opportunity to go to Carowinds and perform,”
Michael, another student at Westwood, said “I feel like choir is important, and it’s good that they got to perform in front of people to show that.”
Not only is choir important, but also how much Ms.Poole and the students put into the performance to make it enjoyable and amazing.
Ms. Poole said, “There are very few jobs that people can go to that, for the most part, can help put them in a better mood.” “A lot of times I’ll not want to come to school because I’m tired or overwhelmed” “but Once I get to school I’m glad I came” “They typically flip my mood from bad to good”
They are a phenomenal choir class but as an example, with a lot of hard work, you can achieve great things.
Congratulations, Ms.Poole, and the students who did an amazing performance!
